Children are usually very vulnerable to a lot of infection and many parents always try to ensure that their children are free from any form of infection or disease. Several methods are usually employed by parents to ensure that their children remain well. Most of these methods or processes involve the use of drugs and other synthetic medicines and substances. These substances sometimes have side effects that produce actions that parents may not be comfortable with. Alternatively, there are several ways in which natural methods can be used to help keep children free from infections. Some of these natural methods of boosting children’s immune system may be very simple but they tend to produce profound effects. Some of these methods include:

  • Sleep

It is very important to make your children have very adequate periods of sleep. This allows their body to have time to replenish resources that are used up, and also build up or allow their body tissues to grow too. It is also during this time immune cells usually multiply to replace the dead cells. Sleep also has an overall refreshing effect on children helping them to be more active and healthy.

  • Fluids and Adequate Water Intake

Fluids and water intake is also another very important way of boosting the immunity of children. This ensures that their body always have the needed level of fluid in their body for optimal performance. Water plays a very important regulatory role in the body especially concerning body fluids. It helps to prevent some extreme conditions like dehydration which makes the child vulnerable to many illnesses. Adequate amounts of water and fluid intake will prevent dehydration and the conditions that accompany it which will enable the child to live a healthy life.

  • Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are natural sources of a lot of minerals and body nutrients that help the body to fight disease. These nutrients also help the body to grow effectively. Hence, it is very important to ensure that children are fed with adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables. For instance, vegetables contain significant amounts of minerals and vitamins needed for production of both red blood cells and white blood cells which are needed to fight infections and germs.

  • Reduce Sugar Intake

Sugars are very important to the body since they produce energy the body needs to function effectively. As important as sugars are there is also a side effect that comes with the intake of excessive sugars. Research has shown that the ability of immune cells to fight infection can be reduce by as much as 40% in children who ingest excessive amounts of sugar. Parents must ensure that their children  do consume excessive amounts of sugars and products that have high sugar content.

  •  Exercise

Exercise  is also very important to the body and does not only help in keeping the body active, it also plays a very important role in boosting the immunity of children. During exercise, some of the excess sugars in the body that the body does not need will normally get burnt off to produce energy for the body. This helps in boosting the immune system since excess sugars tend to hamper the effectiveness of these cells to fight infection and disease.

  • Supplements

Food supplements can also play a very vital role since some of the body nutrients needed by the body to be able to fight infection may not be adequate enough to help the body perform at optimal levels. Food supplements that contain reasonable amounts of these nutrients can be given to children to help boost their immune system and help them to fight infections effectively.

Children are very vulnerable and often get infected with different infections easily. The usual way of treating infections with synthetic inorganic drugs can be effective but often comes with side effects that may be detrimental to the overall health of a child. But when natural ways are used to boost a child’s immunity, infections are warded off easily and natural inexpensive methods can be used to achieve this.

Not all sugar is created equal! I know I would never give my children regular white or even brown sugar.
There are WAY better sources to get energy from :) I enjoyed most of this article, but I feel I need to mention the part about the sugar. I think it’s important to specify the TYPES or SOURCES of sugar.

Just my two cents. Thank you for this!
